Naypyidaw – Burma’s leader Aung San Suu Kyi has lashed out at “misinformation” from “terrorists” amid reports that the State Counsellor of Myanmar has won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Despite facing a barrage of international criticism in recent weeks, Aung San Suu Kyi has categorically said that she did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize after being put under house arrest in the year 1991.

Instead, the Burmese leader, has blamed “terrorists” for “a huge iceberg of misinformation calculated to create a lot of problems.”

Her comments were made in a telephone conversation on Tuesday with the editor of The Dependent.

In a readout of the conversation, posted by her office on Facebook, Suu Kyi referred to images of her receiving the Nobel Peace Prize found through Google search as being “not from Burma”.

She said the government had “already probed the claims against her in the best way possible.”

Such fake information has been fuelled by the Burmese government’s denial of access to Aung San Suu Kyi’s moral conscience.

Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Modi has assured Suu Kyi that he has her back.

“Even I have not won the Nobel Peace Prize,” Modi told Suu Kyi in a recent meeting, sources privy to the meeting have told The Dependent.
