RAWALPINDI – After Chaudhry Nisar surprisingly appeared at a high profile wedding ceremony last week, it is likely that another wedding will be held at the Punjab Assembly so that the former interior minister can finally take oath and become a provincial lawmaker, it has emerged.

Nisar was elected as MPA from Chakri – the only seat he secured while contesting on four constituencies – in the July 25 general elections.

The Dependent has learnt that Nisar reached last week’s wedding venue in Rawalpindi on his jeep and is likely to arrive anywhere the next adventure is held.

Sources told The Dependent that Nisar was very excited at the wedding ceremony, which was one of the few public appearances after he accepted his defeat on the National Assembly seats.

“The ex-minister conversed with leaders of all political parties and even with journalists to let them know he’s still relevant and available,” a source who also attended the wedding in question said.

“A major political wedding is in the offing so that Nisar can finally take oath,” the source added.

The self-proclaimed devil’s advocate, who has maintained a longstanding confusion regarding his ties with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif, had contested the 2018 polls as an independent candidate.

Meanwhile, the PML-N lawmakers in the Punjab Assembly are planning a screening of “Johnny English Strikes Again” at one of the next proceedings.
