ISLAMABAD – Pakistan is set to become the first country to formally transform the voting process into franchise elections next year, following the much awaited announcement on Friday.

Amidst speculations on the upcoming elections being postponed or preponed, all parties unanimously decided to bring about the actual change that was needed in the election process.

“Thankfully, we’ve done away with the façade. Finally,” said the co-owner of the PTI franchise Jehangir Tareen. “Now we can all just focus on the bidding process, because there’s some top quality talent on sale.”

PML-N franchise owner Nawaz Sharif lauded the government for privatising the elections. However, he has taken exception to Hafiz Saeed’s availability in the Platinum category.

“At the end of the day the sponsors have the final say, but we’re sending negotiators to Aabpara,” Sharif told The Dependent.

While the categories are yet to be announced, some of the big names expected to be a part of draft, in addition to Hafiz Saeed, are Abdul Aziz, Sami-ul-Haq, Ahmed Ludhianvi, Masroor Jhangvi and Mumtaz Qadri – the latter despite being a posthumous contestant, is expected to be the first draft pick.
