Accountability court allows Nawaz, Maryam to be represented by video footage from previous hearings

ISLAMABAD – After thrice-elected, thrice-deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday repeated the exact same words in the accountability court hearing for the third consecutive time, the court gave permission to Nawaz and his daughter Maryam Nawaz to be represented in future hearings by their video footages on loop.

As the court granted an exemption from personal appearance to Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, they’ve also been granted permission to send their preferred clips as additional representatives.

Insiders confirm that Nawaz Sharif has already compiled a montage from the GT Road rally in August, while Maryam Nawaz has selected her bits from the NA-120 election campaigning.

While arguing for the exemption, Nawaz Sharif’s counsel said the former PM is unwell and repeating the same words over and over again can take their toll on his health. The court replied that it had already agreed on giving him exemption, so there’s no need for any argument.

In Maryam’s application, she stated that she sometimes forgets the script and since both she and the court know what she is supposed to say, it would save everyone’s time if those words are just played during the hearing.

Meanwhile, Captain Safdar remains the lone defendant who would have to appear in the court, since nobody knows what he’s going to say, argued the court.
