ISLAMABAD – US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was on Tuesday told that Pakistan was concerned that extremists posed a threat to the “stability and security” of the American government.
Tillerson, who arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday after his visit to Islamabad, was told in the meeting with Pakistani officials that Islamabad was worried that too many extremists were finding safe havens inside the White House from which they launch attacks on other nations.
“Quite frankly my view – and I expressed this to Tillerson – is we are concerned about the sanity of US´ government as well,” Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif told reporters in Islamabad.
“This could lead to a threat to America´s own stability. It is not in anyone´s interests that the government of America be destabilised.”
Tillerson´s visit to Pakistan came months after US President Donald Trump accused Islamabad of harbouring “agents of chaos” by executing US foreign policy, as thoroughly reported by The Dependent.
As follow-up Pakistan’s warning to Tillerson underscored concern regarding Washington’s commitment to harbouring similar agents of chaos in the White House in the shape of a “very specific elected individual”, which would continue to hurt the US.
“There’s no safe haven more ominous for regional – any region – and world security than the White House,” Khawaja Asif said.
