PARIS/ISLAMABAD – Terror watchdog Financial Action Task Force (FATF), has expressed serious concerns about the growth of a global supremacist group in the region, The Dependent has reliably learnt.
The group that self-identifies as ‘I don’t watch Game of Thrones’ (IDWGoT) has been cited as the fastest growing supremacist outfit in the world, with Pakistan being the latest country where concerns over its spread have been underlined.
In visits to multiple countries across the world, FATF rang alarm bells over IDWGoT’s rise. In Pakistan, the terror watchdog expressed reservations over insufficient physical actions on ground against proscribed organisations (POs) including IDWGoT.
“The menace of this group can be underlined by the fact that its name is simultaneously its manifesto and also its latest act,” notes United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. “So whenever you take its name, you are simultaneously spreading its manifesto and acknowledging the last enactment of its supremacist ideology.”
In Pakistan, members of IDWGoT are believed to be involved in the ongoing political mainstreaming process. Reports further suggest that members of the group contested last year’s elections, with opposition leaders claiming that some of them are now a part of the federal cabinet.
“Members of the federal cabinet will issue spoilers for this Sunday’s episode as conclusive evidence against such claims,” State Minister for Interior Shehryar Afridi told The Dependent. “There is no presence of IDWGoT in Pakistan,” he added.
