Punjab govt seeks judicial probe into governor’s killing
LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday said his government had written a letter to the federal government seeking a judicial inquiry into the Governor Salmaan Taseer's assassination. He said he hoped that the federal government would approach Islamabad High Court for formation of a commission.

ISLAMABAD - Opting to adopt a wait-and-see policy, the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has decided not to quit the Punjab government, leaving it to the PML-N to decide if it wants to keep the coalition going or not. Lahore tops violence against women in Punjab
ISLAMABAD - At least 2,690 incidents of violence against women were reported in 36 districts of Punjab from January to June 2010 and Lahore took the lead with 458 such cases, said data available with Pakistan Today.
The data added that other ten districts of the Punjab where intensity of violence remained high were Faisalabad with 393 cases, Sargodha with 161, Sheikhupura 157, Rawalpindi 139, Okara 134, Kasur 116, Sialkot 114, Sahiwal 88, Gujranwala 87, Jhang 76 and Multan 71

ISLAMABAD - Interior Affairs Minister Rehman Malik has said that the Punjab Police was responsible to provide security to Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer and it (police) would be questioned about the security lapse.
