ISLAMABAD – As the government on Thursday accepted one of the 12 demands of Nawaz Sharif by reverting the petrol prices, the PML-N has forwarded another demand – the appointment of a non-controversial person as the Punjab governor – for the party’s continued cooperation with Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani. A source in the PML-N told Pakistan Today that the demand regarding appointment of an ‘impartial governor’ had been conveyed to the prime minister.
“Gilani has also been asked to silence the party’s hawks who are indirectly accusing the Punjab government of Taseer’s assassination,” he added. The source said the PML-N had categorically told the prime minister that the appointment of Babar Awan as the Punjab governor would not be tolerated at any cost.
