ISLAMABAD: Saying that the upcoming polls were of the utmost importance, the Pakistan Tehrik i Insaaf has said that they are looking for a candidate like Lt Gen (r) Asad Durrani in the 1990s to oversee the electoral process.
“Yes the caretaker positions are there but we need to have someone dynamic to oversee the election process to ensure that optimum results are achieved in the national interest” a party insider told The Dependent after a high level meeting at Bani Gala.
“The general consensus of the meeting and the party chairman was that General Durrani had been exemplary in his handling of the election, and that someone with his skills, resources, thinking and motivation should be looking after the elections.”
“We have been considering many options. Ahmad Shuja Pasha is one such name that is as qualified and as motivated as Durrani” he went on to say.
“Although we have worked with him extensively in the past, and can attest that he is a go-getter ideally suited to such a monumental task, but with the Supreme Court so inflexible on Iqamas…we might just have to go another direction” he ended.
