ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday said he and his party workers almost took credit for the Faizabad sit-in.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Khan said, “The government should know that whenever something happens against them, there’s always a win of great proportions for us, because of our mutual history.”
However, he said it is time for national to be thankful.
“The whole nation should be grateful that the matter was wrapped up in two days, otherwise there would have been a catastrophe of great magnitude when we would have shamelessly called it PTI’s win,” Khan said.
“Nobody has any idea what would have happened to definitions of opportunism and shamelessness had this disaster taken place. Everyone should thank the army for stepping in and diffusing the situation by bringing us back to our senses,” he added.
“I prayed two nafil-i-shuqrana (prayer of thanks) when the army stepped in and fixed my head,” the PTI chief further said. He, however, conceded that he should get some brownie points or moral royalty whenever a dharna is successful.
“Even my enemies won’t disagree that it is I who have mainstreamed two major political entities in Pakistan: Taliban and dharnas,” Khan concluded.
