(This is still satire)
At an apex security meeting attended by the the Prime Minister, the DG ISPR, the DG ISI, the Punjab Chief Minister and others, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa said that the army cannot use force against its own people.
Sources privy to the details of the consultation meeting between the top civilian and military brass told Pakistan Today that the meeting decided that the army troops would remain deployed at sensitive state buildings in order to aid the civilian administration under article 245 of the constitution. However, the army expressed reservations against the use of force against its own people.
“It is obvious and understood that the military will not have any role as far as the operation against sit-in is concerned,” a government official said, requesting anonymity.
The army, however, was involved in the eventual negotiations with the TLYR, negotiating an understanding that led to the latter vacating the Faizabad interchange.
