ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was relieved as US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson failed to find a single safe haven inside the PM House, The Dependent has learnt.

Sources privy to the meeting, where Tillerson delivered a tough message in the presence of Foreign Minister Khwaja Mohammad Asif and the heads of the army and intelligence services, confirm that Abbasi reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the war on terror as the US Secretary of State looked under the sofa cushions for militant hideouts.

“Pakistan is committed in the war against terror,” Abbasi told Tillerson as he lifted the hot pot on the dining table to see if any safe haven was to be found there, the source confirmed. Tillerson later asked his host if he could get some pepper.

“We have produced results and we are looking forward to moving ahead with the US and building a tremendous relationship,” Abbasi told Tillerson, after being asked where the latter could wash his hands.

“You need to look eastwards. What you’re looking for is right next door,” the PM added.

Tillerson later told Abbasi that Pakistan is “so important regionally to our joint goals of providing peace and security to the region and providing opportunity for greater economic relationship,” further reassuring the PM that nothing suspicious was found under his bed.
