LONDON – Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed said that Pakistan would have had a total of 536 runs in their last pool match of the ongoing Cricket World Cup had it not been for the conspiracy of the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI).

Talking to the media, after Pakistan’s win in the final group match, Sarfaraz Ahmed said the conspiracy to knock Pakistan cricket team out of the World Cup had been hatched by the BCCI in 1971.

“West Pakistan and East Pakistan would’ve combined to score 536 today – over 500, which is what I promised that we will try to score. It would’ve taken Pakistan’s Net Run Rate beyond that of New Zealand and we would have been in the semifinal,” Sarfaraz said.

“In fact, had BCCI not conspired in 1971, Pakistan’s total points in the tournament would have been 18 and we would have been top of the pool, playing the first semifinal against whoever finished fourth,” the Pakistan captain added.

Former Pakistan fast bowler Sikander Bakht confirmed the BCCI’s efforts to knock Pakistan out, saying that he has conclusive evidence for the 1971 conspiracy.

“Everything else was a subplot, the events of 1971 were engineered to knock Pakistan out of the World Cup in 2019,” Bakht told The Dependent.
