Sitting alone at an unidentified bar still nursing a drink at last call, IAF pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman sent out a text message that read “Hey …”, ellipses and all, to the Pakistani toilet he had been using during his few days of captivity in the country.

The ill timed message that Abhinandan will undoubtedly regret the next morning was sent after another lonely night at a bar, throwing back drink after drink just to try and forget the Pakistani toilet with whom Abhinandan had spent his few days behind enemy lines.

The incident is not the first time in the past month that Abhinandan has sent an unsolicited text to the toilet. The star crossed story of the Abhinandan and the toilet had left the whole world watching with teary eyes as the two were separated in the bittersweet moment in which although returned a free man to his own country, Abhinandan had to be separated from his beloved.

While the Wing Commander had promised that he would not forget the toilet, what he had not counted on was the toilet forgetting him. Despite his friends repeatedly telling him that Basanti, the name he had affectionately given the toilet, had moved on and so should he, Abhinandan remains in his state of depression. Even the pleas of his wife and children have not been enough to move him from his stupor and help him forget about Basanti.
