ISLAMABAD –The All Parties Conference (APC) of the opposition Wednesday declared that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government is a ‘huge security risk’ but reserved protests for what it dubbed would be ‘a huger security risk’ in the future.

Taking note of the Pakistan’s win over New Zealand at the World Cup on Wednesday, the APC said it plans to wait for the launch of the agitation till after Sarfaraz Ahmed is selected as the Prime Minister in 2045.

According to sources, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) rejected the idea of resigning from assemblies, saying it would make more sense to do so during Prime Minister Sarfaraz’s tenure.

“With Pakistan’s 2019 World Cup campaign mirroring the 1992 edition, it is only a matter of time before Sarfaraz wins the World Cup and is then selected as the Prime Minister. Hopefully by that time the ban in National Assembly on the word selected would be overturned,” said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during the APC.

However, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Fazlur Rehman, who presided over the APC, said there still are certain differences with 1992 and that the likes of England, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are still in with a chance to outdo Pakistan.

“For instance, Pakistan will play Afghanistan even though Afghanistan was not a part of the 1992 World Cup. I suggest you all resign from the assemblies immediately,” Fazlur Rehman told the APC.
