TORONTO – Actor and director Ashir Azeem has confirmed that he will be playing a security officer to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman in his next film.

Azeem revealed this in a video released on social media, where he announced his future plans, which involve a sequel to his highly acclaimed Maalik.

The actor who now resides in Canada shared his experience related to an official inquiry conducted against him by the National Accountability Bureau, and concluded the video message by underlining how that experience motivated him to make a film on the subject.

“I started feeling that we won’t see the change that has been promised to us, so as always I took it upon myself to showcase that change,” he says in the video.

“I will show that change in my next film in which you will see me reprise my role from Maalik. Only this time I will play the private security agency head to a colourful and unethical NAB chaiman,” Azeem adds.

The release date of the Maalik sequel hasn’t been announced yet. But sources close to the production team have expressed confidence that unlike its prequel, the next film would be banned before its release not after it.
