CAPE TOWN – After being informed that each of them would be playing in the second Test against South Africa, the Pakistani batsmen on Wednesday night tweeted ‘#FaadiKoKhilaoBC’ from their personal Twitter handles.

With the tweet ‘#FaadiKoKhilaoBC’ being sent out at the same time on all handles, without any other letter, word or character, the messages were initially perceived as a result of a hack attack. Among those suspected to be behind the cyberattack was the editorial board of The Dependent, reports confirm.

However, investigations later revealed that the tweets had indeed been sent out by the batsmen themselves, with the timing coinciding in the immediate aftermath of the team announcement.

“Why are they keeping on selecting us given how frequently we are failing?” a top six batsman said while talking to The Dependent. “I know it’s supposed to be punishment , but please enough is enough #FaadiKoKhilaoBC,” he added.

When asked by The Dependent’s designated conspiracy theorist about the thought process behind overlooking Faadi, a member of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) selection committee, expressed confusion himself.

“I mean we could just select him and play him in South Africa, where he’d in all likelihood not score much, and then we can finally put the topic – and the hashtag – to bed,” the PCB official said.

“But maybe we won’t want the hashtag to die ourselves.”
