Taking strict action against a government advertisement still being run on different television channels, Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has announced that an inquiry will be launched into the ad being accused of racist content.
“This advertisement was immediately taken off as soon it was brought to our attn,” said the minister in a tweet, even as the ad continued to air on televisions all around him, including State television channel PTV.
“It was aired hardly a few times before channels were directed not to air such advertisement” he said as the ad increased the count on how many times it was aired over different television channels.
According to details available with The Dependent, the ad was probably even running in the background as he made the tweet.
“I urge people not to circulate this rejected version” while the government continued to voraciously spread the version they themselves rejected.
Later, Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari congratulated Fawad Chaudhry on twitter for taking such quick action, even as said ad was probably blaring on the television screen on her office.
