LAHORE – University of Engineering and Technology inaugurated its Department of Political Engineering here on Thursday in time for the 2018 batch to be enrolled. Vice Chancellor Dr. Fazal Ahmed Khalid graced the occasion with his presence and inaugurated the department in a ribbon cutting ceremony.

University officials told The Dependent that its latest engineering faculty is the one that would have the highest demand.

“The next batch would have all those topping the merit list seeking admission in the Department of Political Engineering,” said a senior member of the university’s admin section. “There is growing awareness that both the future and the present belongs to those who can specialise in political engineering. That is why only a select few would be given the admission.”

The admin officer also confirmed that the professors shortlisted for the department are ‘some of the biggest names in the country’ right now.

“They are all busy in the elections right now and as soon as they are over we will release the full list of professors for the Department of Political Engineering,” he said.

The Dependent has reliably learnt that among those expected to teach at the department is the university’s former faculty member Prof Hafiz Saeed. Although conflicting reports suggest that he might be roped in as the Dean of the Department of Political Engineering.
