Noted satirist and late Zubeda Apa’s brother Anwar Maqsood has apologised for his recent work.

“By recent, I mean all my work after the year 1987,” said a visibly moved Maqsood at his residence in Karachi. “All of it.”

“I had received a lot of complaints about a recently released video of mine that had offended the sensibilities of some Sindhi friends. Upon review of the concerned video, I saw that I had been saying such stuff even earlier than that video and not just about the Sindhis,” he said. “Now I don’t have a problem with being racist, but when it was pointed out that the last joke that actually landed was in the year 1987, I was much dismayed.”

“Being racist is not crime, at least not in my book, as I have always been saying whenever it had been my time to speak at the Rabita Committee, but being unfunny is certainly a crime. I apologise for it.”

“People were being nice to me, I realise. Plus, the mere sight of Moin Akhtar doing anything was very funny and that had to bring in some laughs, so I coasted by.”

“Sorry again.”
