Punjab Police foils Abid Boxer’s bid to celebrate Valentine’s Day in Lahore

LAHORE – Former police inspector Abid Boxer who has been on the run for 11 years for his involvement in extrajudicial killings, connections with the underworld and land-grabbing was successfully prevented from celebrating Valentine’s Day in Lahore, The Dependent has learnt.

Abid was arrested from the Dubai airport by Interpol, with the help of Punjab Police officials that used accurate intel to forestall the attempt to commit the heinous crime in the capital of Punjab.

According to reports, Abid was returning from Malaysia, where he faced troubles Valentine’s Day, and was attempting to secretly launch his bid to do the same in Lahore.

“The vigilant Punjab Police would never have let this happen. That is precisely why I was sent to Dubai, to prevent such a crime from taking place on Pakistani soil,” a Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) of Lahore, sent to Dubai to capture Abid, said while talking to The Dependent.

Abid Boxer is a notorious figure and had fled to Dubai in 2007. He is well-known for celebrating Valentine’s Day with the people of Lahore.

He has been accused of being involved in extrajudicial killings and fake encounters both on and off Valentine’s Day duty.

His targets have included famous celebrities, with cinema houses and farmhouses often the scenes for the crimes that he has committed.
