ISLAMABAD – Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has asserted that the party would not look back at its past achievements or count meaningless stats, and is firmly focused on the present and the future.

Zardari was addressing public rally at Islamabad’s Parade ground to commemorate the party’s Golden Jubilee Founding Day celebrations to acknowledge 50 years since the party was created.

While facilitating his party workers on completing fifty years as the oldest party in the country, the former president said, “We are done with the counting the number of years, or reiterating how old the party is.”

He went onto say that PPP has been too focused on celebrating the days gone by, and it is time to focus on a new strategy. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also addressed the rally, and said that his grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is no longer alive, which the party should now accept and move on, amidst chants of ‘Jiye Bhutto!’

“It’s time to bury the dead once and for all,” Bilawal said amidst rapturous applause chants of ‘Zinda hai BB zinda hai’, and ‘Ghar ghar se Bhutto niklay ga tum kitnay Bhutto maaro ge’. “It’s time for Bilawal. Bilawal is now the centre of power in PPP, Jiye Bilawal,” Bilawal chanted. “Chaaron soobon ka daal chaawal… Bilawal Bilawal,” he added.
