LAHORE – Punjab government under the instructions of chief minister Shahbaz Sharif has yet again taken positive notice of the criticism against it, by asking the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to begin construction work on skyscrapers to curb smog, The Dependent has learned.

According to sources within the CM House, the chief minister is aware of the backlash that the provincial government is facing owing to its contribution to the smog owing to the construction work. The sources further reveal that in a bid to ensure a greener and cleaner future for the citizens of Lahore, Shahbaz Sharif has ordered environment free construction.

“The skyscrapers that the LDA has been asked to begin work on would be smog-filtering screens,” an official of the Punjab government said. “The uncontained dust in this construction work actually acts as medicine that not only helps the citizens by curing their infections, it also reduces the pollution levels.”

LDA has been asked to create transparent smog-filtering buildings that could make our lives a little less wheezy.

“The problem with traditional air filters is that they not only block most of the air they’re supposed to be scrubbing free of pollutants they also block light. These skyscrapers would act as transparent air filters that allow healthy sunrays and other nutrients in by creating organic shahbazecules that are able to self-organize into nawazoparticles, hence reducing smog,” said an LDA official.

LDA has further confirmed that only those trees will be cut for the construction that were active political supporters of smog, and have a proven record of anti-CPEC sentiments.
