Chaudhry cousins appreciate NAB for remembering their tenure unlike the rest of the country

ISLAMABAD – Former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and his cousin ex-Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Tuesday appreciated the National Accountability Bureau was summoning them on November 6 (Monday) in a case of misuse of authority and having assets beyond known sources of income, The Dependent has learnt reliably.

Well-placed sources revealed that the Chaudhry cousins have sent an official letter of gratitude to NAB for ‘recognising our services’ at the time of power and ‘not forgetting us like the rest of the country’.

The Chaudhrys’ letter says proformas sent by the Lahore NAB to get their assets’ details have touched their heart.

“The corruption case against the might be a part of NAB 179 mega corruption cases which the bureau had submitted in the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2015, but we feel special. We are touched and humbled,” the letter says.

According to analysts, the case against the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leadership, accusing them of corruption worth Rs 2.428 billion, has brought the party back into the limelight.

“They mightn’t have the same numbers as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), but they’re still high enough to get them some votes,” a leading commentator said.
