The Joint Investigation Team constituted by the Supreme Court for investigating the money trail of the properties of the prime minister’s family has formally complained to the Supreme Court about attempts at intimidation and influence by the government through the media. In particular, through the Geo’s Capital Talk, Aaj TV’s Bolta Pakistan and Hum’s Zindagi Gulzar Hai.
“The wording used in the programs is clear indication that the government is using these programs to send messages to the members of the JIT,” reads the formal complaint to the Supreme Court. “Shahzeb Khanzada’s wording is ruthless and cold. The manner in which he rubbishes the way the JIT is working causes immense emotional trauma, which is exacerbated by Nusrat Javeed’s uncouth and base humour. Matters are further complicated when we see that Kashaf and Zaroon are poles apart and though we already know the ending, watching them navigate through their relationship still gets us terribly nervous.”
“We would urge the honourable court to look into the matter. Shahzeb Khanzada could be asked to be more diplomatic in his words, Nusrat Javeed should be sent a written notice, asking him to be more respectful towards this august body and they should also perhaps order Hum TV to edit out that scene where Zaroon catches that cup of tea that was going to fall on Kashaf because our eyes are going to well up and we won’t be able to concentrate on work for one bit!”
