Quake jolts Northern Areas, KP and capital
ISLAMABAD - An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale jolted Pakistan's Northern Areas, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and federal capital of the country at 7:45am on Monday but no lose of life or property was reported. Pakistan Met Office's spokesman said the epicenter of quake lied in Tajkistan, 530 km north of Islamabad with 83 km depth.
He added that severe tremors were felt in North Waziristan, Mansehra, Chitral and adjacent areas while moderate earthquake was felt in Rawalpindi

World Bank approves $285m loan for KP, FATA
ISLAMABAD - The World Bank has approved a $285 million loan to assist recovery efforts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
According to a statement issued by the World Bank, the loan includes a grant of $35 million from the Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF). This combined support comes at a critical juncture to assist the poor and vulnerable households to cope with income loss due to militancy crises in KP and FATA.

KP Assembly opposes changes in blasphemy law
PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Assembly on Friday, through a unanimous resolution, urged the federal government not to introduce any amendments to the blasphemy law. The resolution was moved in the House by Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam-F MPA Mufti Kifayat Ullah when Deputy Speaker Khushdil Khan was in the chair. The resolution, carrying signatures of parliamentary leaders of other political forces also, was adopted without any debate.

PESHAWAR - Ever rising unemployment, political unrest and inflation are exacerbating the drug addiction situation in Peshawar and the government is least interested, a survey by Pakistan Today revealed.
Not only inflation, the masses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are subject to various social evils such as abductions, drones, bomb blasts and intense poverty and as much as 5000 residents of the city, including teenagers, use drugs to find an escape from reality, the survey showed.
