Govt oblivious to drug abuse in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR – Ever rising unemployment, political unrest and inflation are exacerbating the drug addiction situation in Peshawar and the government is least interested, a survey by Pakistan Today revealed.
Not only inflation, the masses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are subject to various social evils such as abductions, drones, bomb blasts and intense poverty and as much as 5000 residents of the city, including teenagers, use drugs to find an escape from reality, the survey showed.

KPCCI, USAID look for industrial development in KP

PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI) and USAID have drafted a vision document for developing a well diversified industrial and manufacturing base in KP. This base would not only be export oriented but it would also help domestic consumers and create employment opportunities.
The vision document was prepared after a detailed discussion among officials of USAID, provincial government and business community of the province at KPCCI on Wednesday.

Forces seize 89 missiles, arrest 4 militants in kP

PESHAWAR: The security forces have seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition including 89 missiles during a successful raid in Khyber Agency, and also arrested four militants in the process.

KP seeks 2-year exemption from GST

PESHAWAR: The provincial legislature of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday said the provincial government had presented its reservations on the levy of reformed general sales tax (GST) and demanded a two-year exemption for the province.

41 clerics barred from KP during Muharram

PESHAWAR: Forty-one clerics have been banned entry to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) during the upcoming month of Muharram-ul-Haram to prevent any untoward incident, Pakistan Today has learnt.

KP livestock losses touch Rs 7b

PESHAWAR: The livestock, dairy and poultry sectors have suffered a loss of over Rs 7 billion in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
However, the government has not provided any compensation yet. The Ministry of Livestock has completed its preliminary survey, with the support of its district field offices and local administrations in the flood affected areas and has compiled its complete report of both direct and indirect losses to the livestock, dairy and poultry sectors.
