LAHORE - Swine flu cases are continuing to make appearance in the city as two more cases were reported in the Mayo Hospital on Thursday, Pakistan Today has learnt. Mayo Hospital MS Dr Zahid Pervaiz confirmed the entry of the two cases and added that these samples were sent by the Combined Military Hospital (CMH). To a question, he said, "Someone might have caught the virus at the CMH and is spreading it around from personal contact."

ISLAMABAD - Seasonal flu cases are on the rise in the federal capital, with around 300 patients visiting the city's two major hospitals daily. Seasonal flu or influenza is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses and it spreads from person-to-person and can cause mild to severe illness.

Swine flu patient passes away
ISLAMABAD - A 26-year old young man, infected with the swine flu virus, died in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Wednesday marking the country's first swine flu-related death this season.
Mansoor, who got admitted in PIMS a week ago in critical condition, was from Attock. He was kept in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for one week but could not survive. Three swine flu infected patients were admitted of which two survived.

NIH confirms 85 swine flu cases
ISLAMABAD - The National Institute of Health (NIH) on Monday confirmed that 85 positive cases of swine flu (H1N1 virus) have been reported throughout the country including 28 in the capital city.
A total of 125 samples were received by the institute out of which 85 were confirmed as H1N1 positive. They said that 28 cases were reported from Punjab, 28 from Federal Capital, 19 from Sindh and 10 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
