Export deals will hit snags, says Ministry of Commerce

KARACHI - Export deals, worth millions of dollars, are likely to hit a snag as the Ministry of Defence, citing security reasons, is reluctant to issue VIP protocol passes to exporters for receiving their buyers at airports.
Though extended dates of the protocol passes, issued to the exporters, are going to expire by February 9, 2011, both the ministry of Defence and Ministry of Commerce are yet to arrange the new passes despite repeated requests by the country's exporters,

Commerce Ministers to sign APTTA

ISLAMABAD: Commerce Ministers of Pakistan and Afghanistan are expected to sign a final draft of the Afghanistan Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (APTTA) in Kabul in the next few days.
Official sources at the Commerce Ministry informed that the visit of Commerce Minister, Makhdoom Amin Fahim was being worked out with the Afghan government. They said the agreement was likely to be signed by the two commerce ministers, either this week or next week.

Commerce Minister to consult stakeholders on EU trade concessions

The government has convened a meeting of stakeholders to evaluate the implications of the trade concessions offered by the European Union (EU). The meeting will be held in Karachi on October 14.
The Commerce Minister, Makhdoom Amin Fahim will consult stakeholders and officials of Trade Development Authority (TDA) of Pakistan and analyse the offered package. The Ministry of Commerce will also share its analysis on trade concessions with the stakeholders.
