As Indian player Hardik Pandya faces controversy for misogynist comments, an old video of Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli has surfaced on social media in which he called a girl ‘ugly’ after he left her waiting on a date.

In the video, talking to a female reporter, Kohli said that his quickest date was a blind one. “It ended in like five minutes because I looked at her and ran away,” he said.

“She was ugly, I am sorry but she was ugly,” he asserted.

Sharing the video, Australian cricket journalist Dennis wrote: “Virat Kohli calls a girl “ugly” after leaving her stranded on a date. Post your misogyny outrage below.”

Last week, Pandya, on the show of Karan Johar, boasted about his success with multiple women. “I like to watch and observe how they move,” he said adding how he paid particular attention to “the backside”.

Pandya also said he had bragged to his parents after losing his virginity. He was quickly slammed for his views on women.

Moreover, Kohli has also distanced his team from controversial comments by Pandya.

Kohli was pressed on the matter in a pre-game media conference and made clear the comments were not acceptable.

“From the Indian cricket team’s point of view, any inappropriate comments that are made in that scenario are something that we definitely don´t support,” he said.

Kohli added that the two players “have understood the magnitude of what´s happened”.

“Definitely it has to hit hard, they will definitely understand the things that have not gone right.”
