LAHORE: Former chairman of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), Asif Hashmi, has appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar to provide him justice, stating that all cases against him are “fake, baseless and politically motivated”.

“I have not done anything wrong and all cases against me were registered when I was not even in the country. I regularised daily wagers of ETPB and it was done after an approval from the federal government in line with the orders of the high court,” he said while speaking to Pakistan Today after his appearance before an accountability court.

Hirings of all teachers and other staff in the education wing were totally on merit, he said and added that the plots had also been allotted to the employees of ETPB with the approval of the board and the federal government.

“The cases against me are bogus and the then chairman of ETPB, Saddiqul Farooq, misused his political connections against me. This is political victimisation.”

“I am not involved in any corruption scandals and never misused my authority. I request the CJP to form a new JIT [joint investigation team] to reinvestigate my case so that justice is served and the truth is out in the open,” he added.
