Politicians condemn attacks on Navy

Political leaders across the political divide said that the attacks on Navy vehicles in Karachi are an attempt to destabilise the democratic system in the country. Condemning the attacks, they said that the elements behind terrorist activities were conspiring against the masses and were trying to materialise their nefarious designs at the cost of Pakistan’s integrity.
Reacting over the terror attacks within the last three days on the Pak-Navy buses on Thursday, they said that peaceful atmosphere in Karachi was vital for the country, and terrorists targeted Karachi to disturb the national economy. Punjab Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) General Secretary Sami Ullah Khan said that PPP-led government in the centre had broken the back of terrorists by destroying their safe heavens in tribal areas and by successfully taking on board majority of political parties in the country through its reconciliatory politics. Now once again, some anti-state forces were trying to foil these efforts, he said.
PPP Finance Secretary Aurangzeb Barki said that government’s big blow on the terrorists had frustrated them and they were targeting the armed forces to demoralize the nation. Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa condemned the elements behind Karachi attacks and demanded the Sindh government to probe the matter and arrest the people involved.
Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) parliamentary leader in the Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Zaheeruddin said that elements wishing anarchy in the country were frustrated by the successful army operation against them in tribal areas and wanted to take a revenge beside diverting the government’s focus. He, paying a tribute to the armed forces, said that such acts would not demoralize the country’s armed forces.
The PML-Q Like Minded Group leader Mian Mohammad Asif said that the government had failed to maintain law and order in Sindh. He demanded the government to deal terrorists with an iron hand. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Central Information Secretary Umar Sarfaraz Cheema urged the government to formulate a comprehensive strategy against the terrorists.
