RAWALPINDI – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar on Thursday took suo moto notice of issuance of meethi chutney to him in the dahi bhalla plate he ordered at Rawalpindi’s Saddar Market.

To this end, the Supreme Court sent notices to interim Punjab government and the Chief Secretary pertaining to issuance of meethi chutney to those that do not like it in dahi bhallay, channa chaat or with their samosa plates throughout the province.

The apex court will conduct hearing of the case tomorrow (Monday) at 11pm in Supreme Court’s Lahore registry.

Earlier on Thursday, the CJP had repeatedly warned the vendor not to put meethi chutney in his dahi bhalla plate. However, after noticing the presence of the chutney in his plate, despite repeated warnings, the judge then decided to take formal notice of it.

The CJP then took a tour of the twin cities, and ate dahi bhallas wherever he could find them and taking notice wherever his instructions pertaining to the meethi chutney weren’t followed.

Justice Saqib Nisar’s cleansing tour culminated in Rawalpindi’s Satellite Town area, where he couldn’t find a single flaw with any of the multiple dahi bhalla stalls.

“Why don’t the public institutions work this way?” he exclaimed after eating his fourth dahi bhalla plate with extra paaprhi and chaat masala – but, again, no meethi chutney.
