The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) disconnected the National College of Arts (NCA)’s electricity supply for non-payment of dues, which have amounted to Rs 2.4 million, Pakistan Today has learnt.
Students and teachers at the college were vexed by the power closure. According to the LESCO official who went to disconnect the college’s electricity, he did not disconnect electricity of his own volition; he had orders to do so.
The non-payment of electricity dues, as described by the sources, is not the only hiccup in the smooth running of the college’s affairs. Many students and teachers have been complaining about the appointment of Bashir Ahmad as the college’s principal.
According to sources, the principal had displayed a notice outside his office, banning students’ entry in his office and directing them to visit the college’s registrar for queries.
