LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s plunder, falsehood and treacherous doings deprived politics of its morality and the symbols of “duplicitous political tactics” had delivered nothing in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Speaking to federal ministers and members of the national assembly, who called on him at Punjab House in Islamabad, the chief minister said that voters could not be deceived through hollow claims and attractive slogans anymore and they would cast their votes on the basis of performance in the upcoming general elections.

“Contrary to our opponents, parliamentarians of the PML-N have set examples of public service and consequently the graph of party’s popularity has increased unfathomably,” he said while adding that the people would reject his opponents in the upcoming elections the same way they ignored the masses during their tenure.

Shehbaz said the PML-N would win the upcoming general elections with a thumping majority on the basis of its immaculate performance as the party had rendered great service for the eradication of terrorism and energy crisis from the country and thousands of megawatts of electricity was being produced in Punjab.

“We also provided more than 42 per cent development funds to southern Punjab while our opponents continued to waste the time of the people with their hollow slogans. We fulfilled the right of public service through our dedicated efforts,” he said and maintained that the facilities being provided at southern Punjab’s hospitals were no less than that in the hospitals of developed countries.

The chief minister lamented that his opponents used different tactics to halt the development process in PML-N’s tenure and left no stone unturned to deprive the masses of the fruits of development schemes. “And now they claim to be the champions of public welfare,” he said.

Earlier at the occasion, the parliamentarians apprised the chief minister about the development schemes they had launched in their respective areas, over which Shehbaz expressed satisfaction.

Separately, Chief Minister Shehbaz inaugurated a pathology lab, first OPD block and hepatitis filter clinic at DHQ Hospital Jhelum. He was accompanied by Provincial Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir, assembly members from Jhelum and officials concerned.

After the inauguration, the chief minister announced that the foundation stone of a new hospital would be laid immediately after the elections of 2018 if another opportunity was accorded to him. “The hospital will be completed within a span of one year with Punjab speed,” he added.

Speaking at the occasion, the chief minister said the hospital culture had totally been transformed in Punjab. “Earlier, the patients were afraid of going to government-run hospitals, but now they feel satisfied after seeking treatment in public sector infirmaries.

He said that establishment of a pathology lab in DHQ Hospital Jhelum was a gift of the PML-N government to the people and announced that pathology tests would be held free of cost in all outdoors of the hospitals across the province and the fee would be paid by the Punjab government. “In DHQ Hospital Jhelum, the facility of medical tests will be provided by the Islamabad Diagnostic Center,” he added.
