The decision to leave the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf was made before I read up on new entrant Dr Amir Liaquat, said musician Salman Ahmad.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference in his garage, he said that initially, he was put off by the mere idea that he would be a supporter of the same party that would have amongst its ranks a person as vile as Dr Amir Liaquat, whom he referred to as a reptile in a tweet. But after reading up a lot on the scholar, he changed his mind.

“After a lot of googling and countless hours spent watching the gentleman’s videos, I have come to the conclusion that I share his political views,” he said.

“I feel that our mental level is somewhat the same, even though he is far more expressive. I feel no shame in admitting an ever so slight crush on him as well. Not bigger than the one I have on Imran Khan himself, of course, but still.”

“Moreover, and people often forget this: Dr Sb has a really good voice.” he continued.

“In any case, if PTI chairman Imran Khan has accepted him into the party, then it means it was the right decision. Who am I to disagree?”

“My vote is still for the PTI. I will personally canvass for Amir Liaquat if he were to contest the general polls,” he said.
