The KP forest department has come to the defence of PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s claims that his government in the province had planted 1 billion trees, by saying that words such as “Billion” “tree” and “tsunami” in the Chairman’s Billion tree tsunami project were not meant to be taken literally.
“Actually, when Imran Khan said that his government was going to plant 1 billion trees in the province, something he promised to international organisations including the UN, he did not actually mean 1 billion” said a forest department spokesperson.
Earlier, Imran Khan had raked in praise globally after he said that he had planted a billion trees. However, experts were sceptical of the claims after which the forest department has come out swinging in defence of Imran Khan.
“How can one man plant a billion trees? How can trees even tree? How can there be a tsunami of trees? These things are impossible and were never meant to be taken literally” added the spokesperson in a presser.
“It was always obvious that these words are simply meant to be allusions or something of the sort. Why would anyone make such claims?” the spokesperson asked
“It really depends on what the meaning of the words billion, tree and tsunami is” he ended before taking no questions from the press.
