ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday issued a third notice to Election Commision of Pakistan (ECP) over changes in the nomination form in Election Act 2017.

Awami Muslim League (AML) Chairman Sheikh Rasheed has filed a petition in the court over changes in the nomination form.

As the hearing resumed, Justice Amir Farooq expressed displeasure over non-submission of reply by ECP and said that stern step will be taken against the institution on next hearing.

AML chief Sheikh Rasheed has moved the court seeking revival of certain clauses in Election Act 2017 which make it essential for the electoral candidates to submit their financial records, dual nationality record, expenses on the election campaign, details about family members, loans and details of crimes if any.

Rasheed, in his petition, has argued that a candidate should provide all such information in his/her nomination papers but most of these clauses have been omitted from Election Act 2017.

The changes were made in the nomination papers as clauses seeking dual nationality, assets and loans were removed to facilitate corrupt politicians, Rasheed argued.
