VALENCIA: After scoring his first goal in his first appearance this season in the league on Sunday, Barcelona ghost is now only one goal behind Real Madrid rival Cristiano Ronaldo in the standings of the La Liga goal-scorers.

Ronaldo, who managed to score his second goal in the league last weekend, is now only one ahead of the ghost whose tame shot after half an hour in the match against Valencia was spilled by goalkeeper Neto and bounced over the line before the Brazilian dragged it back over, but referee Ignacio Iglesias Villanueva allowed play to continue as, unlike other major European leagues, La Liga has refused to introduce the technology on cost grounds.

While the ghost’s goal doesn’t count in the official tally, but as per the moral race for the league topscorer the ghost has one goal compared to Ronaldo’s two.

It is pertinent to mention here that both are way behind the ghost’s teammate Lionel Messi who tops the chart with 12 goals. In fact, neither is close to the top eight with Mikel Oyarzabal, Willian José and Maxi Gómez all at the bottom of the top eight list with six goals each.
