KARACHI – Terming Pakistan’s victory in the ICC Champions Trophy as ‘historic’ and a ‘game changer’ former Pakistan team captain Shahid Afridi stressed on the need for consistency in their performance to excel.

Afridi gave his own example of unparalleled consistency and his dependable yet somewhat unpredictable style of batting. Speaking to journalists at Karachi airport Afridi reminisced “I vividly remember tons of times during training how the coach would point to me while giving a pep talk to the younger batsmen trying to explain to them the meaning and importance of consistency”

Upon pointing out that he had been out for a duck 30 times (second highest ever) in his career, Afridi, in a stern tone said “yeah so? It’s still consistent. Plus I won the ICC T20 world cup aur aap sei aisay hi ghatiya sawaal ki umeed thi”.

Referring to the performance of newcomers a journalist asked Afridi about his views on Shadab Khan’s remarkable and highly confident ‘leg before wicket’ review that took out Yuvraj to which Afridi said “please keep it civil guys, no need to use such terms. It was simply an LBW and a solid review”.
