Police outnumbered

Karachi is the largest city of Pakistan with a population of 15 million. The police force in the metropolis seems to be outnumbered as it has only 29,000 personnel present in the city which is well below the desired number of personnel required. Besides being outnumbered the security apparatus seems also ill-equipped and de-motivated for curtailing the law and order situation plaguing the city.

It is quite evident that with such a small number of personnel and limitation of resources, peace cannot be restored to Karachi. It is imperative that the state should take active measures in providing the required resources to the police so it can perform its duties responsibly.
