If politics is the art of possibilities then the political divorce between PPP and PML(N) in Punjab should be treated as the effort or possibility for long-term political union that failed in the short-term. But considering it the failure of PPP and the success of PML(N) would be erroneous because it was PPPs policy of reconciliation that gave strength to democracy which now prevails in the country.
Thus in accordance with this spirit, the path of collision has always been avoided by PPP for strengthening of the system. But, what PML(N) has done by engaging the unification bloc is against the Charter of Democracy. This will bring nothing productive in the long-term for both the parties. Therefore, for the sake of democracy, all political parties need to display political maturity and keep their eye on the bigger picture rather on short-term gains.
