Dr Ahmed motivates graduated girls to serve nation in future

Quaid-e-Azam University Vice Chancellor Dr Aitzaz Ahmad on Wednesday said Islam does not prohibit girls’ from education as an educated mother can guide her child in a better way.

He said this while addressing a convocation and prize distribution ceremony held here at IslamabadModelCollege for Girls (IMCG) – postgraduate on Wednesday.

On the occasion, he appreciated the college faculty, saying education not only grooms the personality of a person but also gives them a sense of protection.

He motivated the graduated girls to serve the nation in future, saying students are the builders and decision makers of future.

He also announced a scholarship in the name of Musarat Almas (his sister) for the IMCG (PG), F-7/4.

IMCG Principal Firdaus Fatima presented a shield and college insignia to the chief guest.

At the convocation, degrees were awarded to 323 graduate and postgraduate students for the session 2010-2012. Rolls of Honors were received by 23 graduate and 15 postgraduate students for their outstanding performance in different university examinations. The Hameed Alvi Gold

Medal was conferred to Ms. Nighat Shaheen, who stood first in her class in the Punjab University Exams in the year 2012. The Azra Raza Excellence Award, which carries a cash award of Rs 50,000, was awarded to Sidra Pervaiz, a graduate of the year 2012.

Three assistant professors and two non-teaching members of the college were awarded shields on completion of their services of 25 years for the college.

The IMCG principal said their college is the only one in Punjab (except the PunjabUniversity) to have a full fledge Mass Communication Department with state of the art facilities. “Our college is the only one in Pakistan that has been granted license by PEMRA,” she said.

Among the guests Director Colleges, Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), Zulfiqar Ali, Deputy Director (FDE) Bibi Yasmin, Qaisera Alvi, and a large number of the parents, participated in the event.
