Gang arrested using Facebook for kidnappings

Members of a gang that kidnapped boys for ransom using Facebook were arrested on Saturday, a private TV channel reported.

Five suspects were arrested out of which one is a woman.

The gang’s ringleader Adeel used his wife’s Facebook account and mobile phone to befriend boys before kidnapping them. They were caught after Mohsin Waqar issued a request about his brother’s kidnapping at the Saddar Police Station.

The City Police Officer (CPO) ordered the police to trace the suspects’ call when they called to demand ransom for the brother’s return. The suspects took Rs 1,700,000 as ransom and released Mohsin’s brother.

SHO Asif Nadeem’s son Omar, constable Muhammad Amir and the son of a Numberdaar were among the arrested. The police said that all suspects belonged to influential families.

 

KIDNAPPING GONE WRONG: A kidnapper identified as Irfan tried to kidnap a 7-year-old girl in Hajvery Town, Sabzazar on Saturday.

Reports said that the girl’s screams caught the attention of the area people who caught and beat the culprit and later handed him over to the police.

Police arrested the accused and further investigation is underway.

 

GAMBLERS, DRUGPUSHER ARRESTED: Samanabad police raided and arrested seven gamblers from Gazali Road.

According to details, police recovered thousands in cash, cellular phones and other valuables from their possession.

In another raid, police arrested a female drug dealer identified as Sanam Pathani and recovered 1,200 grams of hashish and 50 grams of heroin from her possession.

Police registered separate FIRs and has started investigation.

 

MAN ELECTROCUTED: A man identified as Ajmal, 20, received an electric shock while attempting to remove electric wire from a truck at Ferozepur Road and died immediately.

The police reached the spot and recovered the dead body. The dead body was handed over to the family upon after their refusal of an enquiry into the matter.
