A large number of people working in government departments celebrated Eid in their offices to ensure the safety and comfort of the masses during the Eid holidays.
Prior to Eid day, most of the residents of the twin cities rushed to their hometowns to celebrate the festival with their loved ones, while the on-duty staff in various government departments sacrificed their joys to facilitate the people during the holidays. Policemen, traffic police officials, limited hospital staff, toll plaza workers, the media, airport, railways and sanitary workers were directed to remain on duty during the Eid holidays.
“It was for the first time that I spent Eid with my colleagues at a toll plaza and it was quite a new experience for me”, said Alam Zeb, a staff member of a toll plaza.
He added that, “Life has different phases and this year I experienced the pleasure of sacrificing my happiness for the sake of others”.
Another worker said, “I celebrated Eid at a toll plaza with my friends and colleagues as I was assigned to perform duty during Eid days due to the shortage of staff”. He also added that he was happy to serve others during Eid holidays as the traffic was quite thin and he would have the opportunity to avail extra leave later.
