Lyari riots

During the weeklong operation in Lyari several flaws on the part of our law enforcement agencies were witnessed. Men on the ground were not following any particular plan to combat agitation. They were positioned haphazardly, mostly in the direct line of fire and hence exposing themselves to casualties.

Shotguns are for short distance shooting but some policemen have been carrying 12-guage pump action rifles in response to LMG and SMG fire coming from terrorists holed up inside buildings, which are quite far from their deployments.

Our LEAs seem to be shooting in the air rather than on the target. This resulted in massive ammunition wastage. Sharp shooters were nowhere to be seen. In any such operation, where there is stiff resistance in any specific areas, long-range rifles are the best weapons.

Strategists should take note of these flaws and get their act together in future.
