The Lahore High Court has imposed a fine on a lady doctor of Sheikh Zayed Hospital for filing a baseless petition against two of her colleagues and the chairman of the hospital.
Dr Shazia Khawaja had filed the petition seeking cancellation of promotion of Dr Yasmin Shah and Dr Asifa Abbas, two lady doctors of Obstetric and Gynecology department of said hospital. She pleaded that both lady doctors were promoted by chairman and dean of Sheikh Zayed Hospital on the basis of allegedly poor Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs). She pointed out that the promotion was done by neglecting the rules and procedure defined by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
She requested the court to declare promotion of both lady doctors as illegal and violation of PMDC’s rules. The court had sought record and reply from hospital’s chairman which stated that the promotion was made on merit and the allegations of petitioner stands false. Dr Shazia remained unable when the court asked to prove her assertions stated in the petition.
