Punjab govt keeps its promises: CM

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif has said the government has honoured the promise of rehabilitating the flood victims through the construction of 22 model villages equipped with modern facilities.
He said the construction of the model villages would usher in a new culture and visibly bring about a lifestyle change in backward and far-flung areas. He said the model villages had been constructed with a sum of Rs 1,550,000,000 provided by philanthropists. He was talking to Members of the Punjab Assembly (MPAs) of various districts, who apprised the CM of the pace of implementation of various ongoing public-welfare projects and the problems of the people of their respective areas.
The CM said the Punjab government was utilising all available resources for the welfare of the people and special attention was being paid to the provision of basic amenities to the masses.
SAAF PANI PROJECT TO EPITOMISE PUNJAB GOVT’S TRANSPARENT AND EXPIDITIOUS PROCESSES: The CM has said the Saaf Pani Project is of vital importance and should be completed expeditiously.
He said national resources were a sacred trust and transparent utilisation of every penny of public money would be ensured in the execution of the project, adding that it would be an example of high standards and transparency, in accordance with the Punjab government’s policies. He was presiding over a meeting to review the pace of implementation of the Saaf Pani Project on Wednesday. MPAs Rana Afzal Khan, Hafiz Mian Nauman, Tanveer Aslam Malik, engineer Qamar-ul-Islam Raja, the Planning and Development chairman, the Housing and Finance secretaries and various experts were present. The CM said that under the Saaf Pani Project, 505 water plants, including 88 reverse osmosis and 417 ultra filtration plants would be installed in 30 districts of the province.
