Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan on Thursday said Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) had issued perpetual warrants for two accused, Ziaur Rehman and Malik Abid, declaring them proclaimed offenders in Shahbaz Bhatti’s assassination case. The IGP said that during a meeting with a delegation of minorities, the city police chief briefed them about progress in investigation into Shahbaz Bhatti’s assassination case.
Bani Amin told the delegation that the ATC had issued perpetual warrants for Ziaur Rehman and Malik Abid, declaring both of them proclaimed offenders. The delegation was also told that these accused would be brought to Pakistan with the help of Interpol and the Ministry of Interior had been approached for this purpose.
Sikandar Bhatti, the brother of the deceased, had nominated these two persons in Shahbaz Bhatti’s assassination case. The IGP said efforts were underway to bring them back to Pakistan from Dubai where they had fled after Bhatti’s assassination.
