ISLAMABAD – After threatening to march on Islamabad if the government does not step down, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has reiterated his desire to do the same, this time questioning the rationale behind the current setup.

Speaking to The Dependent on Thursday, days after a successful ‘million march’ rally organised by the JUI-F in Quetta, Fazl said that he “failed to understand the anti-democratic forces”.

“We want to clarify that the drums of war have already been beaten as a message to such forces, such international agents, the representatives of global powers, and the false leaders, to whom we pose the question: why would you ask Islamic parties to get together when you want to use someone else to destabilise democracy?” he asked.

“When you have an alliance of Islamic parties, a tried and tested alliance like the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, why oh why would you want to go with Jews and Jewish agents to do a job that we are perfectly capable of doing?” he further asked.

The MMA and JUI-F chief further maintained that not only was the decision inexplicable, such an arrangement was a grave sin as well.

“It is haraam to assemble Islamic parties, but then use Jews for the purpose of destabilising democracy. And anything that’s haraam will be strongly opposed by the JUI-F and the MMA,” he said.

“If this Jewish setup does not resign by August, you will find us in Islamabad by October, or December, or March, or even next August, or even some time after that,” he vociferously vowed.
